The Underclassmen Exodus

With the current state of the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, expect a bevy of talented juniors and draft-eligible sophomores to give the draft a long look this offseason. The NFL and NFLPA have not reached an agreement, and word is that they are not close at the moment. What does this mean for college prospects?

With FUPA-sporting Charlie Weis on his way out in South Bend, it’s time to take a look at candidates to replace him as coach of the preeminent college football program in America. This article is a look at the most desirable plausibilities in reverse order.

5. Jim Harbaugh (Stanford)

Jim Harbaugh

Hottest name in coaching right now after he turned a small, private, academically minded university’s football team into world-beaters. According to some, Stanford may be the most physical team in America, and they looked it absolutely demolishing Pac-10 foes and projected conference front-runners Oregon and USC in successive weeks. Of course, the last time Notre Dame hired a coach from Stanford the results were less than stellar, and Harbaugh’s brother’s success in the NFL means the big league may come calling sooner, rather than later.
